Liz
Kendall - Science and Technology Secretary. WTF?
LIZ KENDAL
Liz
served on Mr Miliband’s front bench and later as a shadow health minister under Sir Keir before being promoted to
work and
pensions secretary.
political musical chairs, but what make her qualified to become SOS for
science and technology, other than being gullible enough to accept the
post, perhaps?
The situation surrounding Liz Kendall and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) is currently one of the most contentious areas of the
2025
Cabinet. Liz Kendall is managing a "digital storm" that has significant implications for corporate law and civil liberties.
Oh
boy. By this stage, you have been around the system several times,
getting more confused by the hour. It appears, and is alleged that Ms
Kendal and her partners in crime at Companies House, are trying to force
the use of mobile phones and apps, or make it incredibly difficult, time
consuming and expensive for those without, or who do not want to submit
to hackers, fraudsters and the like. It
smacks of institutional blackmail and Orwellian Big-Brother. WTF? Why
not consider a Freedom of Information (FOI) to the Department for
Science and Technology, Companies House, or Department for Business. Or,
why not all three? CLICK HERE FOR A TEMPLATE
Here is an update on the GOV.UK One Login crisis and the "Digital ID" controversy as of December 2025:
1. The Companies House "Lockout" Crisis
The "horror stories" you’ve heard are reflected in recent parliamentary debates. On November 18, 2025, identity verification became mandatory for all new company directors and People with Significant Control
(PSCs). There are around 5 million individual company directors. Many of
which could become criminals, together with their companies. It makes
the Horizon
scandal seem tame by comparison. Yes, that is right: FIVE MILLION.
The "One Device, One Identity" Flaw: The system was designed around individual smartphones. As you noted, companies where directors share a single computer or an office "admin" email have been systematically locked out. The system often detects multiple logins from one IP address as "suspicious activity," triggering automatic bans.
The Consequences: Unverified directors are currently being blocked from filing "Confirmation Statements." Failure to file these results in automatic fines and, ultimately, the company being struck off the register.
Kendall’s Defense: Liz Kendall has maintained that the "friction" is necessary to stop the 50,000+ fraudulent companies registered annually by bad actors. However, she has been forced to issue a "technical grace period" for SMEs struggling with the digital transition.
2. The Whistleblower Scandal (December 2025)
In a major blow to the department, senior civil service whistleblowers leaked documents to
ITV News just this month.
Security Failures: They allege that the One Login system fails the government’s own "Secure by Design" standards.
Offshore Risk: There are claims that parts of the code were developed by staff in Romania without proper security clearance, creating a "backdoor" for foreign intelligence services.
The "Red Team" Disaster: A security test (a "Red Team" exercise) earlier this year reportedly proved that a remote attacker could take over the entire system without triggering a single alarm.
3. Human Rights and Discrimination Concerns
The push for a Mandatory Digital ID (announced by Keir Starmer in September 2025 to prove "Right to Work") has sparked a massive legal backlash.
The "Digital Ghetto": Civil liberties groups (like Big Brother Watch) argue that the system discriminates against the 1 in 10 UK adults who do not have a smartphone or photo ID.
Article 8 Breach: There is an ongoing theoretical legal challenge that forcing individuals to be "digitally recorded" to earn a living or run a company is a breach of Article 8 of the
Human Rights Act (Right to a Private Life).
Liz Kendall’s Pivot: To avoid a total legal collapse, Kendall has introduced the
"Post Office Route"—allowing directors to verify their ID in person. However, this carries a fee, leading to claims of a "tax on the non-digital."
Summary Table: The Digital ID Fallout

Issue Status (Dec 2025) Impact on Directors
- Login Failures Critical Widespread reports of account "freezes" for shared-office environments.
-
Security Status Compromised Whistleblowers claim the system is "vulnerable to state-level hackers."
-
Legal Standing Challenged Parliamentary petition against Digital ID has reached 2.9 million signatures.
-
Fines/Sanctions Active Civil fines for non-verification are being issued, but many are being appealed.
In a world where the government forces every citizen into a single digital "hive," a technological genius doesn't need to hack 60 million people—they only need to hack one login.
Britain
represents just one catastrophe after another. But, why with so many
checks in place, with existing systems, is it necessary to completely
revise just about everything, in the process, cocking up just about
everything. Who is responsible for this mess, and will they be sacked,
or will this be another Horizon style cover up exercise, that the BBC
will whitewash and edit, to make it look like it is the victims who are
crazy!
